Driving tips

Did you know?

Short lessons and test-prep notes from our instructors, useful whether you're booked with us or not.

Did you know? Mirrors before every move

Mirror, signal, manoeuvre — in that order, every single time. Examiners watch your head movement, so make your mirror checks visible.

Know your road signs before test day

The VID examiner will ask you to identify signs before you even start the car. Learn the warning (triangle), regulatory (circle) and information (rectangle) groups — knowing the shape families alone gets you most of the way there.

Master the hill start

Handbrake up, clutch to biting point, gentle accelerator, then release. Practise on a quiet slope until you can do it without rolling back a single centimetre.
